‘Either you run the show, or the show runs you, and Trump doesn’t run the show. He has been completely checkmated.’ – Steve Hanke

In this episode of RT’s Sanchez Effect, we look at the Iranian conflict from a purely economic standpoint. Today’s guest, a professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University, was just the person for this fascinating discussion. He says that Iran is winning the war geographically, at least while it has control over the vital Strait of Hormuz, while mocking US President Donald Trump’s decision to blockade Iranian ports, as it will cause the economic crisis to spread worldwide. The professor does not mince words, calling the embargo a ‘stupid thing to do’ as it is forcing more and more countries to pivot away from Uncle Sam while the blockade ignites a major economic recession across the globe. Mr. Hanke says that Trump has actually boxed himself into a corner, with no way out. However, he says that there will be a winner from all this chaos – BRICS.
